Chocolate Cravings…

Usually I’m the one with the cravings but this weekend, it was Matthew. For some reason, he was talking about chocolate brownies non-stop. I promised him we’d make a batch together and we did! The weather here lately has been less-than-perfect so it was a great way to spend a cold, cloudy Saturday afternoon. Sage decided to play outside and “help” her dad cut grass (she’s hardcore)

I have tried many a brownie recipe in the past but my favourite has to be the one on the Fry’s Cocoa wrapper. It’s simple and calls for a 9 X 13 pan – so lots of brownies!!

Fry’s Fudgey Brownies

  • 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup cocoa
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Stir together flour, baking powder and salt in small bowl. Melt butter in a large saucepan. Remove from heat. Stir in cocoa. Blend in sugar, eggs and vanilla. Blend in dry ingredients and nuts. Pour batter into greased 9 X 13 rectangular baking pan. Bake in preheated 350 F oven 30 to 35 minutes or until done. Cool.
